From the soulful streets of his
hometown Memphis, TN, Kevin “Big Kev” Mabin was able to
nurture and expand his natural talent as he engaged in college life in Judd
Hall Dormitory at MTSU. The time spent there brought together several musicians
from various eclectic backgrounds and influences who formed a bond and a band
that would later be known as “Judd Hall”, where founding member Big Kev is the
drummer.
Since those early days, the group
has played together in various forms, including a church band in which they
continue to play every Sunday. They have hit many milestones together and in
their individual endeavors as well.
Big Kev attracted the attention of
John JoJo Herman of Widespread Panic who reached out to him to play for a side
project, The Mojo Mardi Gras Band. As the bands drummer, and has been afforded
touring opportunities, and performances at Bonnaroo, Jam Cruise, and other big
music festivals.
In addition to bringing the funk on
the drums, Kevin “Big Kev” Mabin is also a creative producer. He specializes in blending sequenced tracks
with live instrumentation and bringing back classic elements of funk and soul.
Working with artists and producers such as Dave Aaron, Big Fella, Black
Catfish, and Block to Block Entertainment; Big Kev is committed to creating
innovative, high quality music.
